Local beer sponsor not only serves up tasty brew, but also to serve as a new venue
MidPoint Music Festival is pleased to announce today a new partnership agreement with Christian Moerlein Brewing Company to be the official beer for 2014. The beloved brewer won’t only serve up their suds, but their Over-the-Rhine brewery will be a festival music venue as well.
The headline acts at the Moerlein outdoor stage will be Panda Bear on Thursday, Tycho on Friday, and The Raveonettes on Saturday.
“MidPoint is all about enjoying a fantastic experience with live music in the city. Christian Moerlein is excited to add to that with our award winning craft beer and our brewery as a unique venue,” said Greg Hardman, CEO of Christian Moerlein.
The Christian Moerlein event facility, at 1621 Moore Street, is in the company’s Over-the-Rhine brewery. The site is a wonderful slice of Cincinnati’s brewing history, with underground tunnels once used for lagering beer in a cool space before there was refrigeration.
The brewery isn’t new to hosting bands and parties, providing Bockfest with its main hall and festival tent each year. The Moerlein outdoor stage will replace MidPoint’s stage held at Grammer’s since 2009.
Christian Moerlein will have a superb lineup of choices at this year’s festival featuring its seasonal Hell Town Rye-Ot Brown Ale, as well as their Zeppelin Bavarian Pale Ale, Over-the-Rhine Ale, Northern Liberties IPA, and Lager House Helles.
“Our festival has a tradition of promoting Cincinnati originals, whether that be through our music pioneers or our urban culture,” said Dan McCabe, artistic director. “Christian Moerlein only strengthens that tradition, as they’ve been a leader in America’s craft beer resurgence since the early 80s. Cincinnati music fans love Cincinnati beer.”
Fans will find Christian Moerlein beers served at each MidPoint Music Festival venue.
